Apple's 10th-Anniversary Edition iPhone
Will the iPhone 8 be able to meet the expectations that have been building up these past years? Surely they will if they do things right. Let's take a look at their last products, the iPhone 7 and 7 plus. These products are undoubtedly two of the best phones of the past year. They have delivered a speedy and stable performance, a bigger storage capacity, water resistance, exceptional cameras and a host of other terrific features.
Despite Apple's promise that the iPhone 7 and 7 plus would give us "things that we can't live without", what we got was an incremental upgrade at most - an evolutionary step rather than the revolutionary leap that many of us were expecting. As a matter of fact, the omission of the headphone jack is already something that some of us cannot live without.
All these things fueled a wide sentiment that Apple is just holding back their more impressive hardware and software innovation for their coming 10th-anniversary release. Rumors suggest that the iPhone 8 could be a throwback to the Apple a decade ago - a breakthrough that will make us reconsider what a phone can do. Can Apple deliver to such high expectations? The expected release date of the product is early this September of 2017 if they will stick to their usual schedule.
Here are the specs we might see:
- Apple's next-generation processor (maybe the A10X or A11)
- Ceramic or glass body (An iPhone 4 throwback)
- Wireless Charging
- A virtual home button or maybe none at all
- Dual-lens camera-enabled augmented reality
- Retina Scanner as an alternative to Touch ID
