Google I/O is taking place at their headquarters in Mountain View, California. And as always, they kick off the show with some fun statistics. CEO Sundar Pichai announced that the company’s Android operating system just recently crossed a major milestone. It has now more than 2 billion monthly active users. The company had added nearly 400 million users since its last update back in September of 2015. Android isn’t the only massive property that Google has under its umbrella. Aside from the world’s most popular mobile operating system, the company has seven services which have reached a billion users: Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome, Google Maps, Gmail, Search, and Google Play. In addition to those statistics, Pichai also noted that people all over the world have downloaded 82 billion apps during last year and also tune into Youtube to watch more than 1 billion hours of video every day. Pichai also mentioned that Google Drive now has 800 million users, and Google Photos has crossed the 500 million monthly user mark. And Google Assistant is now available on 100 million devices and across over 70 different devices - including iPhones.
